Many new cam girls seem to think that making it into the ranks of the top models on Chaturbate and MFC is beyond them. They apparently believe that those camming performers who rake in all the massive tips have huge promotion operations behind them that make it all possible. Well, it's true that a few do have some serious help from established adult webmasters who pump traffic into their rooms, but most don't.
I wouldn't recommend working at a cam site other than Chaturbate or MyFreeCams if you have the ambition of being a top model. Cam girls at other sites just don't get enough exposure, and the tippers at those sites generally don't spend anywhere near as much on tokens, so it will be much harder to rise to an income level over $20,000 per month. The top cam models at Chaturbate and MFC are making between $20,000 and $100,000 per month. If you want to get to that level, I would start at Chaturbate and build up a large following. Cam there for like a year and make sure you broadcast every freaking day (yep, that's right). Be chatty, open, and really try to make friends with your viewers. If you get that down, then eventually you'll have a massive fan base that you can take with you to MFC, where the massive bucks are made. MyFreeCams is the place where a top performing model goes to rake in the truly huge amounts of money. The top 10 girls there will normally pull in over $50,000 in a month, and the top 3 can easily do over $75,000. But don't think you can just start on MFC and make it to the top without a large fan base. You'll need serious numbers of regulars coming with you so that they can boost your camscore enough to get you to the top listings on the site. Then, the big spenders on MFC will notice you and you can start to make serious bank. Don't get me wrong, serious money is possible on Chaturbate too, it's just that it seems to be that fewer above $50k per month models cam there than at MFC. If you want to make those ridiculous incomes, you need to eventually end up on MFC. But look, don't think you need to become a top cam model in order to "succeed" in camming. This business provides a lot of great monthly incomes for a lot of us who aren't at the top of the heap. A normal cam girl who works hard can definitely make six figures a year if she sticks with it. Maybe you won't become a millionaire, but you'll have a great living and plenty of freedom.

I generally love being a cam girl, but sometimes it gets on my nerves how webcam models are treated by both viewers and cam sites. I tend to think that this business is taking cam models for granted too much, and you can see it in how many of us are treated by fans and sites alike.
One of my chief problems with camming is how 90% of the viewers on almost every cam site these days are freeloaders. They'll hang out in your room and just type stuff like "open bobs," whatever that means. They just want us to show them nakedness for free without them tipping a single token, and that's just not cool. I once had a guy tell me that he was "philosophically opposed" to tipping because it detracted from the erotic atmosphere on the site. Well, I basically told him that I was philosophically opposed to wasting another breath talking to him, so I banned him. I work hard at being a cam model, I really do. I would hope that my fans would appreciate that and compensate me for what I do for them. I quit being a waitress to do camming full time, so I need to make this financially work, and it won't unless my viewers support me. I'm not asking for huge megatips, or paid vacations in Maui, I'd just like a measly tip every now and then as a show of appreciation. Freeloaders are bad enough, but what really pisses me off are the overbearing members (many of whom tip a lot). Just because you tipped me 500 tokens doesn't mean you get to dictate how I run my room! I'm still in control of the joint, so don't go around barking orders at me and telling me what to do. A tip gets you more attention and more respect from me, but it doesn't give you the right to take over my room. Cam sites can be a pain when dealing with abusive members because almost all of them refuse to do anything when you complain. They seem to have a "members first" policy and will generally believe the member over the model when there's a dispute. Not all cam sites are like that, to be honest, Chaturbate and MyFreeCams are not bad on that score. But still, this is a definite area most sites need to improve in. Anyway, whatever my complaints may be about webcam modeling, its still way better than being a waitress. I make more money, I work from home, and I get to call the shots because I'm in charge. I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. Okay, I just wanted to talk a little bit about the traffic levels at my main cam site, Chaturbate. I've been camming there for a long time now, and I can clearly notice a huge improvement in the number of viewers on that site. Picking the right cam network to start on is one of the most important decisions a camming performer will make, and it's pretty much the very first one they will make, so this is important. When I started as a cam model on Chaturbate back in the day (and this was like 6 years ago), the traffic levels were way under what they are now. The whole cam site was brand new and most of the cam girls working on it were just doing it out of faith that it would improve. I remember that I was splitcamming when I would broadcast on Chaturbate, so that I could work the bigger sites that had more traffic at the same time (like MyFreeCams which, at that point, had far more viewers). So, yeah, Chaturbate has definitely come a long way since then, because it is now ranked as one of the most traffic-rich cam sites on the internet, including even the old huge sites like LiveJasmin and MFC. In fact, the traffic has gotten so huge on Chaturbate now that you actually regularly see rooms on the first page with like over 4,000 viewers. I mean, that's totally nuts. No where else do you see those kinds of room count numbers. Having as much traffic as it does, Chaturbate makes a great place to start camming because you'll have way more exposure. Don't get intimidated by the top models there who seem to hog thousands of viewers, there will be plenty for you as a new cam girl, trust me. Just make sure to do plenty of free public shows during the first few weeks so that you can attract lots of viewers into your room. Then, if you keep at it, you'll build up regulars and be making great money! |
